This is part of a message I wrote right after I had to stay up all night long writing papers for finals. I freely admit I was more than slightly unbalanced at the time. Enjoy. --MG

I guess this 8:30-am-when-I-haven't-slept-all-night-and-haven't-even-been-up-this-early-since-who-knows-when stream of conciousness kinda writing isn't my friend. But I do have to stay awake for another hour or so until the theatre office opens so I can drop off my papers. Therefore, the logical solution is to make you all suffer.

What I did last night:
A Testament to the Long-Lasting Stay Awake Power of Boot

Let's see... I was reading photocopies for quite a while, so here's what I did starting from 10 p.m. yesterday.

Woke up the computer.

Chose my patron ReBoot desk gods (commonly referred to as "action figures") for the night. While Enzo *is* good for staying awake, I needed to get some work done, too, so I went with the classic BobnDot team.

Contemplated the problem of poor desk god Bob and desk goddess Dot never being able to kiss.

Hung desk god Bob upside-down by his knees on a paintbrush cup and told desk goddess Dot he was lost in the Web.

Sent goddess Dot out looking for him.

Hung goddess Dot upside-down on another nearby paintbrush cup.

Tried to look under obviously bald god Bob's wig.

Considered removing obviously bald god Bob's wig.

Decided against removing obviously bald god Bob's wig until a suitable replacement wig or hat had been acquired.

Attempted to fix Bob/Dot kiss problem by turning Bob's head around backwards. Quickly realized that wouldn't fix anything.

Turned Dot's head backwards. Now she could kiss Bob, but I don't think that was horribly romantic.

Tryed to get goddess Dot to stand up without a figure stand.

Watched goddess Dot fall on her face.

Put on my ReBoot wig.

Tryed to get goddess Dot to stand up without a figure stand.

Watched goddess Dot fall on her butt.

Tryed to get goddess Dot to stand up without a figure stand.

Watched goddess Dot fall on her butt.

Realized Dot is the only one of my humanoid ReBoot desk gods *not* to have a mono-butt.

Wondered what was up with that.

Wondered if ReBoot was worth liking if I ended up using words like "mono-butt."

Decided it was (barely).

Took off my ReBoot wig.

Realizing I needed more help, I unleashed the power of the Meggy god.

Pulled Meggy god's legs off and put them back on.

Pulled Meggy god's legs off and put them back on.

Pulled Meggy god's legs off and put them back on.

Went to change the font in my screensaver (a scrolling marquee that reads "TheWebinvadedMainframe,spriteandvirusbattledsidebysideattemptingtoreclaimthecityfromtheriftwhichopenedwide,butMegabytebetrayedBobandhethrewhimdeepinsidethepit,thepitwasclosedandBobwashosedandallthathecouldsaywas--NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" [give or take an "O"])

Told Norton my system wasn't crashing.

Thought about how good a cup of cocoa would be right then.

Told Norton my system wasn't crashing.

Watched my system crash.

Rebooted.

Put milk in the microwave.

Rebooted again.

Made cocoa.

Drank cocoa while watching my once-again functional screensaver.

Tried to count the number of "O"s in the screensaver.

Felt kinda sick from drinking that cocoa.

Felt kinda REALLY sick from drinking that cocoa.

Swore off cocoa for life.

Realized gods Bob and Meggy could actually kiss better than Bob & Dot.

Realized gods Bob and Meggy could also stand nicely together and hold hands.

Encouraged gods Bob and Meggy to consider an alternative lifestyle so they'd tiff off the mini-Matrix figurine.

Placed mini-Matrix figurine in front of gods Meggy and Bob holding hands so he'd get tiffed off.

Set god Bob aside with Megabyte the plastic cat.

Put mini-Matrix in a miniature smiley face mug and gave it to god Meggy to hold.

Made some crack about Mrs. Nesbitt.

Got a craving for cocoa...

Well, that's what I did until 10:15 p.m., at least. But you get the idea.
Oh, and I wrote some papers too... or something. I know I wrote *something*... didn't I? Hmm...

Maybe I should sleep. Y'think? Huh, huh, huh?
